My journey continues from late October 2015 until the end of the year. Basically around this period, I was getting into things. I was testing out new things. Just shortly before this period, I began testing out Light Trail after learning about it online. I took that a little further by learning how to compile them into time lapses, which I experimented with.
Gangnam Long-Exposure
One evening I ventured into Gangnam district in Seoul with my tripod for some night photography. The idea was to capture slightly long-exposure photographs which I would later combine many frames into short time-lapse videos. I don’t have videos to share with you today, but I’m happy to present some of the single images that survived (many were lost due to a hard drive being damaged, I was only able to recover some.) Here are a few of the images:
I’m separating this last image because I was testing with stock photography to see about earning money with my photography. This is a photograph that sold a few times, and I was pretty happy to discover it published in a magazine. I was thrilled to know that my image could be viewed as ‘magazine’ print-worthy. This is the image and one that I am very impressed with even today.
Cold Early Morning Photographs
One early morning, I walked outside momentarily and saw the early sunrise. The sky was so beautiful I quickly returned home, grabbed my camera and tripod, and headed out to a nearby field to create a little time-lapse of the scene. I took a few photographs as well. The results are nothing to phone home about, and I seemed to take it too far in the post-processing of the images. Here are the results from the morning:
Gyeongbokgung Palace Photography
I returned to Gyeongbokgung Palace for another photo walk near the end of the year 2015. I remember picking up a used Tamron 27-300mm lens. The quality of the lens was pretty bad, which I with my little experience seemed to not notice until some time later. I was still happy to photograph things closer up, standing from a distance. This article will finalize the series featuring my photography journey from the very beginning. At the very end of 2015, I first got into photographing in raw format. This served to help me get more into editing my images and taking control of the post-process. I continued learning about editing and much more as I continued to document the world around me as I explored South Korea. The first of my RAW images were family photographs, so I will not be sharing them here. However, from the next series, you will see the work I did along with the editing challenges that I faced in the next step in my journey.
